Welcome to Waveborn! As you go through this tutorial you will learn more about Waveborn and what it means to work with us. Please take your time and look through all the materials presented – it will be well worth your time.
For those of you new to the site, Waveborn is a social good sunglasses company that combines the cool of fashion with the soul of giving. For each pair of sunglasses sold, Waveborn donates a new pair of prescription eyeglasses to people that need them through our charity partner, Unite For Sight, or partially funds a sight restoring surgery in the developing world through our second charity partner, Surgical Eye Expeditions International.
Unite For Sight is an amazing organization that works with local eye clinics around the world to help people in underserved communities. Unite For Sight supports local professionals in Ghana, Honduras, and India providing comprehensive eye care services including examinations, diagnoses, and care for all treatable conditions. Our second charity partner, Surgical Eye Expeditions International recruits and deploys surgical teams around the world to perform sight restoring operations at the invitation of eye surgeons in developing countries. SEE organizes clinics to conduct the surgeries and will typically restore between 5 and 200 pairs of eyes over the life of the clinic (usually five days).
The Waveborn Mission
We're not just selling sunglasses. We're selling a way of life, a way of life that is focused on discovering happiness and personal growth while working on projects you are truly passionate about. Life is not about the number of dollars in your bank account. It is about your experiences and relationships and overall well-being. We believe that the world will become a much better place if more people leveraged their unique skill sets to do good work for others. In today's connected society, it is easier than ever to follow the actions, status updates, and beliefs of your extended networks via social media. We believe that the tides are changing and a new wave of social change has been born.
Waveborn is a social good sunglasses company that prides itself on
doing good in the world and sparking a movement of social change. We don't
judge our success as a company by the number of sunglasses
packs sold or the quarterly sales report, but instead by the size and
continued growth of our community. We are building a tribe of brand ambassadors across the world who believe that
"work" and "helping others" are not mutually exclusive. And
we want you to join us on our mission.
Maybe you're a broke college student who has no idea what you want to do with your life nor what tremendous skills you already possess. Maybe you're a 20-something who sits in a cube from 9-5 (or much longer), constantly refreshing espn.com and dreading your next worthless meeting. Maybe you're a stay-at-home mom who shares your abundant love with your children but wishes you could share your gifts and talents with a broader audience -- maybe your youngest child just left for college and you don't know what to do to occupy your time in your recently uncluttered nest. Regardless of your stage in life, we want to empower you to use your preexisting talents to make a difference in the world by working with us.
CEO, Mike Malloy, published a short book which will help you to get the
most out of your time here at Waveborn and as you move forward as a working
professional. The book highlights his first 4.5 years of professional experience and teaches you how to find work you love by adopting the Craftsman Mindset. Please read through the book in its entirety - it should not take
longer than 60 minutes. Becoming So Good They Can’tIgnore You
